In keeping with the Expo theme of ‘Future Energy’, the design team has taken great measures to push the boundaries of energy performance for the myriad building types across the Expo site that can endure the extreme weather of the world’s second coldest capital city. The design focuses on high-performance systems that are robust and ensure comfortable conditions for visitors to the Expo and occupants of the building in their post-Expo converted use.

The scope includes the engineering design of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and building control services for the Expo. A number of parametric modeling tools were used to inform design decisions and communicate simulation results with the client.

John Tolva was the design lead for this work.
