DC Southwest Mobility Innovation District

Cityfi provided general smart city advisory services to the Southwest Business Improvement District (SWBID) in driving strategic efforts to form Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) with autonomous technology companies for the purpose of pilots as well as creating the roadmap for the Southwest Mobility Innovation District.

Context

The Southwest Waterfront District is in the midst of a complete urban transformation, including large scale mixed-use development, streetscape reinventions, new neighborhood amenities and attractions, and major new tenants and residents relocating to the area. The SWBID is uniquely positioned as a rapidly growing and changing multi-use quadrant in the heart of Washington DC, to become a national hub for the deployment of innovative mobility solutions.

Method

In terms of building partnerships, Cityfi assisted SWBID on vetting RFI responses from AV companies and provided strategy and advice on formulating MOU and PPP documents used to set agreements with the private sector. Cityfi also consulted on rapidly changing public policies around smart cities and AV technology, and proposed future-proofing strategies to provide SWBID for scaling of pilots. Cityfi also advised SWBID on budget setting, communications strategies and technical capabilities of mobility providers.
