Method
Funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, Cityfi was hired to lead this effort, which generated renewed organizational values, vision and mission, goals grounded in strategies and actions, and potential future offerings and use cases to drive the organization toward impact and sustainable revenue. The project employed highly creative engagements that brought together industry, academic and organizational experts to envision the future of digital infrastructure and the role that the OMF should play in the years to come.
The strategic planning process included:
● a document review to understand the current state of OMF;
● interviews with 22 stakeholders to seek perspectives about the organization and its role in digital infrastructure;
● a first in-person convening with organizational and subject matter experts to explore visions for OMF and digital infrastructure;
● a virtual convening of the same group of stakeholders to determine how to operationalize the offerings and resources of the organization to meet the chosen vision; and
● a second and final in-person convening to prioritize tactics and actions.
In culmination, a Strategic Roadmap, Action Agenda and future forward-looking organizational structure assessment was produced for the OMF. The Strategic Roadmap and Action Agenda’s guide staff and the OMF’s Board of Directors in decision-making around programming, governance, fiscal sustainability, and organizational structure. In addition to strategic planning, Cityfi was instrumental in the initial strategy, design, operationalization, hiring, and partnership development for the organization in 2019 and 2020. OMF remains a client of Cityfi’s today.
