Philadelphia Decarbonization Workshops

The City of Philadelphia is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Decarbonizing any city is a multifaceted challenge with countless potential solutions, often requiring a blend of diverse tactics and strategies to address or at least begin breaking down the big wicked problem into more manageable technical problems.

As the city of Philadelphia prepared for a new administration, the Office of Innovation and Technology (OIT) took a proactive stance by convening a task force with stakeholders from several government agencies and external partners—the effort centered on fostering alignment to synchronize efforts and construct a comprehensive plan. OIT entrusted Cityfi to guide the group through a dynamic series of collaborative working sessions.

Method

Cityfi designed and facilitated a series of seven in-person working sessions to guide the task force in uncovering actionable, short-term initiatives and pave the path forward. The approach was rooted in action, bringing together a diverse array of internal and external stakeholders.

Cityfi's approach resulted in an outcomes-driven action plan, aiming for an equitable deployment of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure throughout the city. The EV Transition Strategy was delivered to the client and will be shared with the new administration and used as a communication tool for external stakeholders and City Council.
